Leslie Kaminoff is a yoga educator inspired by the tradition of T.K.V. Desikachar. He is an internationally recognized specialist with thirty years’ experience in the fields of yoga and breath anatomy. He leads anatomy and yoga methodology workshops for many of the leading yoga associations, schools and training programs in the world. Leslie's book Yoga Anatomy, published by Human Kinetics, sold out its first print run of 19,000 within one month of its June 2007 release, and remains the #1 yoga book on Amazon two years later. There are currently 175,000 copies of the book in print.

Leslie is the founder of The Breathing Project, a non-profit educational corporation dedicated to the teaching of individualized, breath-centered yoga practice and education. The Breathing Project currently teaches classes and advanced training programs out of its studio in New York City. From October to June, Leslie can be found teaching his highly respected year-long course in Yoga Anatomy and the Application of Breath-Centered Yoga (ABC's) at The Breathing Project in NYC.

Leslie has also helped to organize international yoga conferences while serving as Vice-President of Unity in Yoga, and was part of the ad-hoc committee that established national standards for yoga teacher training. Prior to the formation of The Yoga Alliance, Leslie was a strong voice in the ensuing national debate regarding the application of those certification standards. This dialogue resulted in the creation of e-Sutra, an influential e-mail list and blog that has an active woldwide membership of over 2,500.

On July 4, 2009, Leslie launched IYEA - The Independent Yoga Educators of America. IYEA's mission is to promote and protect the independence of the yoga teaching community in America.  IYEA embraces completely voluntary standards for the education training of teachers and students. IYEA endorses resistance to any entity that assumes the authority to license, regulate, or enforce its standards upon the yoga community.
